I don’t actually own any, but I have a secret love of headbands, tiaras, and even crowns, though I admit I don’t really want a crown. I just think they’re cool.
I found a ton of stuff, but today I think I’ll concentrate on the best fit for me personally: the Evil Queen.
[insert raving cackle]
Great for the queen whose evil is understated. You don’t fly into mad rages, you just quietly poison your enemies.
This, on the other hand, is for if you prefer those mad rages.
This one is more melancholy. Surrounded by death, none of it her fault. Well, almost none.
Lace, for your softer side. When the enemy is hot, so you prefer to seduce before you dispatch.
Finally, for when your minions have failed repeatedly, and you must go out in the field yourself, an action crown that shows you mean business.
It’s Mexico day here and at frytopia. I just thought I should save the Huichol skulls for here.
Peyote People has a small, but vivid collection of animal (real) and human (resin) skulls.
Viva Mexico has a lot of Alibrijes, and a few bits of very nice Huichol beadwork.
This black-and-white skull from Artmexican really caught my eye.
And of course, I have to close with the shop I featured on frytopia, Magia Mexica.
It’s that time of year again. Time to look at Pottery Barn’s Halloween collection, ooh and ahh over the pretty things, and realize there’s no freakin’ way we’d pay that kind of cash for them.
A lot of the stuff is pretty nice, but this one killed me:
If you pay $25 for something you can make with an empty salsa jar in 5 minutes, we can’t be friends any more.
Total aside: I noticed Grandin Road had “gost dress” sculptures. Here’s the thing. Those chicken-wire dresses are everywhere as “ghost dresses,” but that wasn’t the original intention.
This is from a sculpture installation that had nothing to do with Halloween. I sourced it early on, but sadly, I didn’t keep the link. I should have, because the image has been shared, and the idea copied without attribution so much that the original artist has been lost. These are similar, but came later:
So does anyone remember the original artist? Reverse image search is zero help on this.
Haven’t been keeping up with my links lately, so you get more archived goodies to buy. I’m sure you’re heartbroken. Hope your credit card is still in the freezer.
Before we get started, I recommend you take your credit card, put it in a container full of water, place it in the freezer, and come back in a few hours.
Good? Good. Now, let’s clear some of my shopping backlog.
Michael Doyle is a wildlife artist who has been carving and casting for more than 30 years.
His Etsy shop, Moon Raven Designs, is named for his love of ravens, which feature heavily in his work.
It’s a very big shop, so I couldn’t browse through everything, but here are some favorites from what I looked at.
The House of Mad Lucy makes delightful little bits from two-part epoxy and other materials.
Her specialty is fascinators and headbands.
I would totally wear that Santa Muerta headband, if I didn’t already have my hat.
